Justice is fair when it’s available to everyone.
Everyone agrees that justice is important but, too often, Canadians assume the justice system will be there for them when they need it. The truth is more unsettling: Legal Aid is not available for most legal issues. Over half of those appearing in family court are forced to represent themselves. And court processes are often long and confusing.
Penguin was asked to design a campaign that would encourage a shift in attitudes: Might the widely held belief that everyone deserves access to healthcare be extended to justice? Instead of speaking in the abstract, Penguin leveraged the herculean work being done as we speak by hundreds of organizations across Canada under the framework of the Justice Development Goals. The nine JDGs reveal the challenges facing our justice system, showcase the work being done to address them, and offer a simple point of entry for those looking to join the movement. Penguin made the nine JDGs more accessible than ever through nine new videos and a meticulously designed digital portal.
